After a tight first half, Chelsea scored two second half goals to set up a mouthwatering clash against Liverpool on the 14th of May 2022.
Before now, Chelsea has appeared in the finals twice in the last two years. Between them and the third stood Crystal Palace. A London derby at one of the biggest football grounds in the world, Wembley. Of course it was going to be a tough one.
The first half was cagey and balanced for both teams. Crystal Palace had some moments and so did Chelsea. It lacked pace and it was not a suprise as no one would want to make a mistake in such an important game.
The second half came and Chelsea grew with the game, with attack after attack. The pressure finally paid off in the 65th minute when Loftus-Cheek stroke home a volley after the ball ricocheted of a Palace defender for the first goal of the game.
Palace came out to play and this left spaces for Chelsea and soon after they got the second on 76 minutes when Timo Werner found Mount with a smart pass for him to finish low into the corner.
Timo Werner was voted man of the match for another excellent performance troubling the Palace defense especially in the second half. Chelsea will face Liverpool on the 14th of May at Wembley for a repeat of the cracking Caraboa cup finals. Will Chelsea have their revenge?
